I have been watching this post in anticipation that Dell just might provide some relevant information, but am becoming rather discouraged, especially after all the time that has passed since we have all been waiting for the drivers to arrive.
It is rather frustrating that now that we have them, they do not work properly. My first thought was, "Did anyone do any testing on these? I have seen more posts from Dell faithful who are jumping ship when it comes to their printers some even their PCs.
Given that Dell does have printers that are completely Vista compatible, it is a shame that Dell would put those of us who should be "preferred" for being Dell customers to push us to the point of having to buy new one's. I have been a Dell die-hard for years now, in fact, everything in my room here is Dell from the keyboard to the PC to my Axim. I have expressed my satisfaction with Dell to my friends and family, however, this nonsense is beginning to take it's toll.
I suppose there aren't any Dell execs who have any of the "A" series printers or I'm sure this would have certainly been resolved by now. I'll hang in there a little longer but if nothing is fixed soon, I'll be happy to express my dissatisfaction with the service and resolution of this problem by purchasing a non-Dell pinter.
I, too, have been a Dell faithful, but the past two months have changed that I can't honestly say I'm happy with my system and not being able to print does not help. Just for grins and giggles this morning, I ran the Windows Upgrade Advisor. The Advisor was unable to determine any information about the USB ports and that made me wonder why Tech Support has suggested repeatedly that if you are using the front ports, try the back and vice versa I am going Saturday to purchase a new printer I refuse to return the 4 unopened cartridges to Dell and pay a restocking fee.
I have the exact same problem with my A printer. How can Dell release this driver without testing it! I have Vista bit. I started again my computer, I started R in compatible mode, vista service pack 2 I connected my printer and turn this on The installation is running and then a message : driver is not correc installed What can I do? Thanks How is it possible that Dell doesn't Solve this?

Do you have an idee? Many thanks for your support. Ready to use withna green v Dell Click on run this program in the Vista SP2 compatibility mode. Rick, many thanks that you are helping me in Belgium :- it was in vista servicepack 2 You see it is installing Here above, It is in french it is wrote near the red cross no driver founded I tried also to go via the printers and periphericals Here above, , you see the scan is ok but I don't have a driver for Dell A Here below Windoxs met a problem when installing the driver.
Windows found a driver but met an error when trying to install Many thanks to help me, Sorry for the french and my not so good english ;- regards, Guy. Guy, So your operating system is in French, correct? It took 3 hours on the phone with tech support for them to tell me the driver posted on the website is bad. No appologies, they just tried to SELL me extended service for when the real drivers are available. Hey, Jean,.
Perhaps I'm doing things in the wrong order, but tech support has not provided me an order of steps to follow from start to finish Perhaps I've transfered something from my old XP computer that should not have been transferred? Did you happen to transfer your documents and settings too? Gina Q 5 Tungsten. DonnaStraitiff wrote: I'd sure like to know what the difference is. My system is brand new. The only software I have installed on it since purchasing it is Microsoft Office and the original printer software I got with my A, so I'm not sure what could be causing the problem.
Were you able to just download the drivers and go? Had you tried installing your printer from the original cd that you received when you purchased it? I had, not realizing that the drivers would be incompatible To let you know I did escalate this the other day, I thought I had posted a reply to this message letting you all know it has been escalated.
Your original message stated you have system with Vista pre-installed. However, you state in your above post that you installed the drivers from the CD originally. Your suspicion is correct that although you have removed the driver that was designed for XP it does leave some files that must be removed before you can again load the Vista driver. You will get a communciation error if these file remain on your system. I have this all outlined in the sticky at the top of this board in two post:.
Please go through the Communication Error post first and be sure to click on the link for Eric Rendel. These two will help get rid of the files that are for XP. There are many people that have done this same thing and used these posts to help fix the problem.
