And still I am getting an error message "Not a valid image. Re: Cannot upload. Only problem is I got extra pages printing out. This client does a lot of article publishing so I was hoping there was a fix or some additional code that could be added to make it work. Sometimes Joomla will not allow me to upload the pdf file, saying it is "not a valid image", and then other times I can upload the file but it only appears as a pdf icon.
I am completely lost as to where to go and what to do now. That takes care of the Joomla global settings. Now: Are any of you using other extensions to handle file uploads? These extensions have their own settings for permitted file types, for one thing, you will have to set them separately. You will need to create a folder to contain your PDFs if you don't already have one. You can create the folder in the Media Manager window. On the left side of the window you will see the folders in your images root folder, on the right side are the files in those folders, and below are the create folder and upload functions.
When you have navigated to your folder, you can upload the file using the "Start Upload" button click the "Browse" button to select your files. Now, you need to find the exact URL for your uploaded file. Even though the folder structure on the left hand side says "Media" for the root folder top level , the actual folder the files are in can be named differently.

A pdf "contains" images. You simply need to link to it so it will open. There also might be some html script you can insert into the page to make the pdf actually show in the page, but, I don't know Joomla that well to have tried it, nor what the script is.
A google search should yeild you some results to find such a script, and then you can stick it in your page and try it. Should work I think.
I did search google and joomla for an answer and haven't found anything that works so far. PDF's are uploaded to the servers as a Binary file same as pictures.
