Latest Firmware Number 16 digits : The other Audyssey tweak is Dynamic Volume. This evens out peaks and makes sure nothing sounds too loud. Unfortunately, it also robs the life and soul from any sound the TX-N makes. Our advice is to switch this off and leave it that way. Alternatively, you can just pretend Audyssey isn't there at all and do a manual setup; you'll miss out on some of the benefits that good auto-EQ can bring, but it might make the system easier to live with.
Onkyo AVRs are known for having an exciting, visceral sound, and this model is no exception. It cuts with precision and detail, but sometimes betrays a slightly rough edge. Image placement is terrific, with aural effects rippling around the room.
Surround-sound warfare in the Band of Brothers Blu-ray, seems terrifyingly real. We ran the AVR in a 7. The clarity and bounce is infectious. Its stereo performance is a delight, but multi-channel music also sings. The TX-NR certainly goes loud, but at high volume, with all channels driven, that rough edge comes to the fore. This is not a model that should be run hard. Dolus Active Member. Note that resetting the AV receiver will delete your radio presets and custom settings. Reseting to default it has not helped me.
Can't think of any other way how this could be solved should all of above fail. I also pluged in an USB stick with only firmware files on it, and on the receiver display I could see the name of USB stick but could not read the files. Any other advices? Just to double check - can you not use the display on the AVR rather than the on telly? My reasoning to that is if the AVR can see the USB it shouldn't mean its all lost just yet but if few attempts at this led to no avail, I'm afraid the unit will need to be brought back to the place of purchase as I am out of ideas.
Maybe some more experienced users can comment? It does not work, any of advices above. It is possible that my receiver is permanently damaged? Even Onkyo support team can't help? How can I enter the menu on the device screen using buttons? I repeat, the USB is working, I can play music through it. It is possible to enter firmware update menu without TV out?
Only using device screen and buttons? Click to expand
